Parent Pathways: First Steps is a course for parents and carers who have recently received, or are going through the process of receiving, a diagnosis of vision impairment for their child.
First Steps is an introductory level course that explains some of the key terminology, processes and people that you might encounter as you navigate the world of support for a child or young person with vision impairment. It is delivered by two of RNIB’s Family Support Officers and provides opportunity for parents and carers to share experiences and ask questions of each other.
The course is open to parents/carers of children and young people aged 0 – 25.
After completing the two-week First Steps course, you will be offered a one to one follow up call with your local Family Support Officer as well as information about our ‘Focus on’ sessions which cover specific topics such as play, finance and education.
