#BeforeYouAsk

A woman with sight loss, sat down at work looking uncomfortable next to her boss with text saying 'sight loss doesn't bother me at work, my cringey boss does'.
What is our #BeforeYouAsk campaign
The blind and partially sighted community are frequently being asked annoying questions which are loaded with misconceptions surrounding sight loss. Sometimes questions can be inappropriate, hurtful or just plain daft. So, we took this insight and asked blind and partially sighted people to answer those questions once and for all. We asked blind and partially sighted people to send us their frequently asked questions and how they typically answer them. This insight has informed our new campaign, #BeforeYouAsk.
Through the #BeforeYouAsk short films, posters and an interactive video chat, blind and partially sighted people will be banishing many misconceptions surrounding what it’s really like to live with sight loss in a fun and insightful way.

We have created a lyrical poem that might surprise you. The poem is voiced by Ellen Renton, who is a Scottish poet/performer with albinism.
Each line tells you something enlightening about how blind and partially sighted people live their lives. It aims to dispel common misconceptions about sight loss and how blind and partially sighted people live, work, have relationships, are parents, who travel and use phones.
